We’ve all heard about the importance of SEO and selecting the right keywords in order to receive loads of traffic from the search engines. There may be nothing more important for the long term growth and development of your home based business than keywords. Here’s a brief guide on how to select the right keywords.
First of all, there are literally millions of keywords and different keyword combinations to choose from. Many of which will be relevant to your niche. You are looking to find and use keywords that are getting searched on a daily basis yet are not so competitive that you have no chance of landing any of these information seekers.
Find out what the most popular or most searched on keywords are in your niche. What you can do is still use those same keywords but add a few words on to it to make it a long tail keyword that will be much easier to rank and get free traffic.
For example, take “make money from home” and put these keywords in a keyword tool website ( http://tools.seobook.com ) These keywords are getting around 450 searchers per day and Google shows 471,000,000 results for these keywords. Not likely you are going to rank on page 1 or 2 for these keywords.
Take the same keywords “make money from home” and add “how to” at the beginning. You’ll find these keywords still get 62 visitors a day but the Google results are 46,000,000 . You may still have trouble getting ranked but at least you’ll stand a fighting chance.
So you see now how you can select long tail keywords and use them to your advantage to start receiving traffic right away. Of course, getting back links to your website is how you are going to rank higher for the more competitive keywords. Be sure to be focusing on getting back links once you have chosen your keywords. The more back links you have, the higher your website will rank for your keywords.
